Cody Rhodes Allegedly Facing Ex-WWE Champion At Clash In Paris
Cody Rhodes’ Clash in Paris opponent has yet to be announced.
The premium live event has already added a few high-intensity matches to its line-up:
- John Cena vs. Logan Paul
- Seth Rollins (c) vs. LA Knight vs. CM Punk vs. Jey Uso for the WWE World Heavyweight Championship
- Naomi (c) vs. Stephanie Vaquer for the Women’s World Championship
Although a cloud hangs over Naomi’s match after she was reportedly injured before the August 11 taping of RAW, resulting in her title defense against Iyo Sky being called off.
Cody Rhodes became a two-time Undisputed WWE Champion on Night 2 of SummerSlam after defeating John Cena in a Street Fight.
On the August 8 taping of SmackDown, he came to the aid of Cena, who was being attacked by Logan Paul and Drew McIntyre.
That confrontation not only set up Cena vs. Paul at Clash in Paris, but also a tag team match for the night, where Cena teamed up with Cody Rhodes to face McIntyre and Paul.
The main event match did not get a result after Paul hit Cena with a low blow.
While McIntyre and Rhodes fought outside, the Scottish star first hit the champion with the belt and then nailed him with a Claymore Kick, sending him through the foot of the announcers’ table.
WWE Personality Predicts Cody Rhodes’ Clash In Paris Opponent
After the attack, Cody Rhodes appeared knocked out as cameras showed Drew McIntyre mouthing him off.
Sam Roberts of NotSam Wrestling discussed the assault by The Scottish Warrior on the latest episode of his podcast, naming him as Rhodes’ potential opponent.
As soon as Drew started looking at the title and the wheel started spinning differently in his head, I went, “Oh, this is going to be the story.” This is the story that we needed. A bad guy versus a good guy on a night when they’re in Drew McIntyre’s home continent. I mean, I imagine that we’re gonna get Drew versus Cody in Paris; it hasn’t been announced yet, but it certainly feels that way. [23:04 onwards]
Building up towards a potential title match, McIntyre, meanwhile, did not have nice things to say about young WWE stars.
