Cody Rhodes Turns Nightmare Into Dream At WWE Royal Rumble

Cody Rhodes

Cody Rhodes has turned the nightmare of a serious injury into his dream come true as he overcomes the field to win the men’s 2023 Royal Rumble.

Cody Rhodes stunned the wrestling world at the beginning of 2022 when it was announced that he and his wife Brandi Rhodes were leaving AEW – a company they were instrumental in founding. As soon as that announcement was made, the rumour mill went into overdrive with the belief that Rhodes was heading back to WWE.

That proved to be exactly what happened at WrestleMania 38 when The American Nightmare returned to the company he originally left in 2016 as Seth Rollins’ surprise opponent. Rollins and Rhodes then continued their feud into the summer, culminating in a huge Hell In A Cell match. That match has added historical significance considering Rhodes suffered a torn pectoral muscle days before the bout but competed nonetheless and picked up the win.

Since then WWE fans have had to wait patiently to see Cody Rhodes in action again but at the Royal Rumble in San Antonio, Texas, that patience paid off.

Rhodes entered the match at number 30 in the ninth Royal Rumble match of his career and became the fifth man to win the Rumble match from that position. The former AEW star completed his victory by last eliminating the number one entrant and the man who now holds the record for the longest time spent in a 30-man Rumble match, GUNTHER.

Cody Rhodes is now on the Road to WrestleMania and on the way to making his dream come true as he is on a collision course with Roman Reigns for the Undisputed WWE Universal Championship in Los Angeles, CA at WrestleMania 39.
