“Cody Rhodes Can Outshine John Cena Any Day” Says WWE Hall Of Famer

Cody Rhodes

Cody Rhodes is on his way to the first WrestleMania main event of his career but one WWE Hall of Famer thinks Rhodes has what it takes to surpass the talents of sixteen-time world champion John Cena.

John Cena is one of the most highly regarded WWE stars of all time with Michael Cole often noting on commentary that he believes Cena to be the greatest WWE Superstar ever. Cena will return to WWE on Raw in Boston in the coming weeks and looks likely to find himself standing across the ring from Austin Theory in what would be Cena’s sixteenth bout on The Grandest Stage of Them All.

At WrestleMania 39, it won’t be John Cena in the main event however, it will be Roman Reigns defending his Undisputed WWE Universal Championship in his 7th WrestleMania main event against Cody Rhodes in his first.

Speaking to Sportskeeda, WWE Hall of Famer Teddy Long gave his thoughts on how Cody Rhodes could compare to a WWE icon like John Cena and Long says he thinks Rhodes can outshine Cena:

“In my opinion, I think Cody Rhodes can certainly outshine John Cena any day. He’s a great competitor. I’ve known Cody since he was a little bitty boy playing on the softball team. His father, Dusty Rhodes, God rest his soul, gave me my first job, so I never will forget that, but Cody Rhodes, I guarantee you, will outshine John Cena any day.”

Cody Rhodes will need to be able to do what John Cena couldn’t do at SummerSlam 2021 to have a successful WrestleMania and finally end the dominant reign of Roman Reigns.
