Cody Rhodes could not hold his tears after WWE Saturday Night’s Main Event went off the air following John Cena’s retirement.

John Cena’s 23-year WWE career ended tonight at Capital One Arena in Washington, D.C. In his final match, the Leader of the Cenation tapped out to The Ring General Gunther.

After the match, Triple H, Nick Khan, and Stephanie McMahon led the WWE locker room to the ringside to celebrate the 17-time world champion.

Undisputed WWE Champion Cody Rhodes and World Heavyweight Champion CM Punk entered the ring and gave Cena their belts in an emotional moment.

Cody Rhodes Had An Emotional Break After John Cena’s WWE Retirement

After getting extremely emotional watching a tribute video package, Cena left his sneakers and arm bands in the ring and departed, signaling his retirement.

After the show went off the air, Cody Rhodes remained at ringside looking at Cena’s sneakers. Jackie Redmond approached the Undisputed WWE Champion as they kicked off the Saturday Night’s Main Event post-show to interview him.

Although The American Nightmare was in tears, he agreed to be interviewed. However, he had to pause during the chat with Redmond as he heavily cried and choked on his words.
