Cody Rhodes Vows To “Avenge” Roman Reigns Defeat

Cody Rhodes made a triumphant comeback from injury at the 2023 Royal Rumble and headed into WrestleMania 39 to try and finish his story by capturing the Undisputed WWE Universal Title from Roman Reigns but The Tribal Chief had other plans.

In a match marred with outside interference from The Usos, Sami Zayn, and Kevin Owens, it proved to be the actions of Solo Sikoa that proved pivotal as he jabbed his thumb in the neck of Rhodes, leaving him at the mercy of a spear from Reigns to give the champion another win and Rhodes the most heartbreaking loss of his career.

Now with the WWE Draft in effect, it might be some time before Cody Rhodes and Roman Reigns cross paths again. Reigns will remain on SmackDown – with Sikoa – while Rhodes will move to Raw. As a result, it will be the red brand that gets the newly introduced WWE World Heavyweight Championship – although even WWE stars admit that the new champion could be seen as “less than” compared to Reigns.

WWE’s social media account has shared a video of Cody Rhodes following his bout with Finn Balor in Belfast, Northern Ireland, and The American Nightmare is still vowing to avenge his loss, no matter what brand he’s on.

Cody Rhodes has more immediate problems to deal with than Reigns or championships as the star will go head-to-head with Brock Lesnar at Backlash on May 6th.
