Cody Rhodes Accused Of Burying Talent By Massive WWE Star

Cody Rhodes WWE

A rival of Cody Rhodes feels like the WWE Champion has buried talent to get to the top.

The two-time and current WWE Champion Cody Rhodes has been the most popular superstar in WWE for the past three years.

It’s a role that his Wrestlepalooza opponent, Drew McIntyre, knows well because from 2020 to about 2022, Drew was the guy as a top babyface in WWE. What hurt Drew in those days was that the COVID-19 pandemic prevented crowds from being at WWE shows for over a year.

Now that Cody Rhodes is the WWE Champion and Drew McIntyre is the challenger for the biggest prize in WWE, McIntyre is sounding off against his former “dashing” tag team partner in a WWE interview.

“Let’s start with the liar thing – he said it himself, Cody Rhodes is a liar.

Listen to his podcast, I know there’s a lot of content in WWE, but give it a listen. He’ll admit he lies all the time. He’s a liarbetic, he’s got liarbetes, he can’t help himself. So let’s move that one on.

The manipulating aspect – we both have openly said we followed the John Cena approach. ‘Give it my all, sacrifice everything.’ I did. Cody did exactly the same, the big difference between both of us is that he learned to kiss ass just as good as Cena. He managed to cut off legs when people got anywhere close to him.”

According to McIntyre, all that Rhodes really cares about is being the WWE Champion.

“Cody Rhodes doesn’t care about anything else except that WWE Championship and himself, and everything else comes second.” [H/T Ringsidenews]

Obviously, since the interview was with WWE, what McIntyre is saying is done to further the storyline, but many people would agree with what McIntyre said about Rhodes.

Drew McIntyre Lays Out Cody Rhodes Again On WWE SmackDown

During the main event of SmackDown on September 19th, WWE Champion Cody Rhodes and Drew McIntyre had a contract signing to make their Wrestlepalooza match official. The heel McIntyre cheapshotted Rhodes with a headbutt, but he refused to Claymore Kick Rhodes through the commentary table like he had done in the past.

Rhodes fought back with a dive onto McIntryre on the floor, but McIntyre came back with a Claymore Kick to knock Rhodes down on the floor. McIntyre told Rhodes to sleep with the title because it’s the last night he’ll have it for a long time.

The Rhodes/McIntyre match at Wrestlepalooza is expected to be the main event, while the John Cena-Brock Lesnar match will open the show. Here’s the full card.

  • John Cena vs. Brock Lesnar
  • Undisputed WWE Championship: Cody Rhodes (c) vs. Drew McIntyre
