CM Punk’s WWE RAW Promo Included Hidden Reference To AEW Star
CM Punk made his first WWE appearance since Wrestlepalooza.
On the October 6 taping of RAW, the Second City Saint cut a promo, revealing his intentions to challenge Seth Rollins for the World Heavyweight Championship.
Punk had won the gold for the first time in over 10 years at SummerSlam, only for Rollins to cash in his Money in the Bank contract and take the title away from him within five minutes.
During the segment, the 46-year-old referenced an AEW star, which may have slipped under the radar for many viewers.
However, hardcore wrestling fans noticed it when CM Punk quoted a line verbatim that Maxwell Jacob Friedman often says in AEW.
Punk looked at the camera and said:
I’m better than you, and everyone knows it.

During his time in the Florida promotion, Punk was involved in a feud with MJF, starting late in 2021 until early 2022. He ultimately left the company in 2023 and re-signed with WWE.
What Happened With CM Punk On RAW?
During his promo, CM Punk was met in the ring by LA Knight and Jey Uso, who claimed their stake to Seth Rollins’ title, too.
The segment ended in a brawl after Jey hit Knight with a Superkick. Jimmy Uso, who came to the ring later, took Punk out with a similar move.
A tag team match between The Usos and the team of CM Punk and LA Knight was finalized as the main event.
In the closing minutes, Punk hit Jey with GTS. However, Knight sneaked a tag and pinned his laid out adversary for the win. Punk stood shocked by the Megastar’s antic as the show went off air.
