CM Punk’s Unlikely Feud With TNA World Champion Scrapped
CM Punk has been WWE and AEW World Champion but was the star really set to go after the TNA World Title in the recent past?
CM Punk re-entered the wrestling world in August 2021 when he joined AEW. That spell in the company proved to be ill-fated and following a backstage altercation with Jack Perry at All In 2023, CM Punk was fired by AEW.
But his spell in AEW proved to be the catalyst for his eventual return to WWE after almost a decade away. CM Punk made his shock comeback to WWE at Survivor Series 2023, just weeks after Tony Khan was forced to let him go.
But at one point, was it really in the works for Punk to head to TNA, a company that he had five matches for back in 2003? Moose seems to think so.
Moose Misses Out On CM Punk Feud
Taking to social media, Moose revealed that at one point while he was TNA World Champion there were plans for him to work with CM Punk:
So while I was World Champ there were plans of Punk coming to TNA and us Fueding. Punk vs Lesnar from SS2013 is one of my favorites matches ever. I was looking forward to recreating something just as awesome. But Obviously it never happened but who Knows. Shout out to @CMPunk GOAT.

Moose won the TNA World Title for the first time at Bound For Glory 2021 just moments after Josh Alexander had won the championship from AEW star Christian Cage. At this time AEW and TNA were working together with Kenny Omega winning the title from Rich Swann before losing it to Cage.
Moose didn’t win the gold again until January 2024 and held the gold until July of that year. During that time Punk was back in WWE but out of action due to suffering an injury in that year’s Royal Rumble.
