CM Punk Names Top WWE Star As ‘Wrestling Soulmate’
CM Punk has had an illustrious wrestling career marked by notable milestones. During his career, he worked with several pro-wrestlers, but not everyone becomes friends in this business.
Currently, The Best in the World is pursuing the World Heavyweight Championship and will face Jey Uso for the vacated title at Saturday Night’s Main Event.
This will be his second attempt to be the world champion. Previously, he had won the championship at SummerSlam 2025, but Seth Rollins cashed in the Money in the Bank briefcase within minutes to dethrone the Second City Saint.
CM Punk names old rival as his ‘wrestling soulmate’ and best career match
During an appearance on GQ, Punk spoke about his best career match. He revealed that his match against John Cena ahead of WrestleMania 29 was the one for him. He even named John Cena his ‘Wrestling Soulmate’.
A number one with a bullet, myself versus John Cena heading into WrestleMania 29, I believe. The winner got the illustrious spot of wrestling The Rock at WrestleMania. Well, I lost. Big f***ing deal. John Cena is my wrestling soulmate. I had excellent chemistry with him this night. The crowd was electric. It was a real fun time. You should go watch it. [h/t: WrestlingInc]
John Cena had won the right to challenge The Rock for the WWE Championship at WrestleMania 29 by winning the Royal Rumble men’s match. Punk had challenged Cena to put that right to the main event on the line on RAW. The match went on for half an hour, with Cena picking up the win with an Attitude Adjustment.
John Cena’s last match against CM Punk was at Night of Champions 2025 in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, where The Last Real Champion defended the Undisputed WWE Championship against Punk.
