CM Punk In Talks For Dream WWE Match With Steve Austin
A huge dream match between CM Punk and Steve Austin is moving ever closer.
From the moment that CM Punk walked out in front of a stunned crowd at Survivor Series fans have been pitching dream matches left and right on social media. Given that Punk has been away from WWE for the best part of a decade, a whole host of new options and matches are on the table, however, it seems that one match could be about to take centre stage.
It’s been reported by Fightful Select that several within WWE are pushing for the star to face Stone Cold Steve Austin. Furthermore, Punk has even had discussions about a potential match.
Many in WWE are said to be “optimistic” and even “hopeful” that the match will take place. Ideas for a match have reportedly been floated between Punk and WWE, although there is no word on how far along these talks have gone.
The “ideal scenario” would see Punk flying to see Austin to discuss a match and ideas directly.
Sources close to Austin note that the legend has never mentioned any issues between the pair, and they are in contact and remain on good terms.
The report states that Austin was approached with multiple ideas for a match at WrestleMania 39 but turned them all down. At WrestleMania 38 the WWE Hall of Famer returned to the ring for the first time in 19 years to defeat Kevin Owens.
Punk and Austin famously went nose-to-nose back in 2011 during a sit-down interview with Jim Ross to promote the video game WWE 13.
CM Punk Set For Storyline With Seth Rollins
It’s been reported that CM Punk is set to face Seth Rollins in a feud based on the World Champion’s animosity toward the returning star. The same report noted that Punk will also feud with Roman Reigns although there is no word on when the match will take place.
CM Punk made his first appearance on Raw since 2014 on the November 27th episode of the red brand where he said he was happy to be home.
