CM Punk Reacts To FTR’s Big Dynamite Bout
CM Punk’s future in AEW remains uncertain but that of FTR looks to be more secure after Dax Harwood and Cash Wheeler took on The Gunns on Dynamite.
The Gunns thought they had seen FTR off in AEW after defeating Harwood and Wheeler back in December 2022. After a few weeks off, FTR returned to the company and had revenge on their mind as they took out the young stars who had become AEW Tag Team Champions.
Speculation had suggested FTR might be sitting out the rest of their AEW contracts after Dax Harwood revealed that they expired in April 2023. However, leaving or not, the former ROH, IWGP, AAA, SmackDown, Raw, and NXT Tag Team Champions wanted another shot at the AEW Tag Team Titles.
The Gunns were not receptive to that idea, however, noting that they’d already beaten FTR once so had nothing left to prove. With nothing left to lose, FTR offered to put their careers in AEW on the line in return for a title match and that was enough to get the champions to agree.
On Dynamite in Long Island, New York, FTR seemed to put all doubts about their wrestling future to bed as they managed to overcome The Gunns to become two-time AEW Tag Team Champions. After the match, Mark Briscoe – who FTR had shared the ring with alongside Mark’s late brother Jay in an epic trilogy of matches in 2022 – came out to celebrate with the new champions.
CM took to social media to react to his friend’s big win, simply sharing a photo of Dax Harwood, Cash Wheeler, and Mark Briscoe celebrating.
