A new report provides an update in the ongoing saga of CM Punk.

Ahead of the September 2nd episode of Collision, it was announced that AEW had decided to terminate CM Punk’s contract with cause after he was involved in a backstage altercation with Jack Perry at All In the previous week.

Naturally, fans have begun to wonder whether Punk might finally make a return to WWE in the wake of his being fired from AEW, and it was reported that he does indeed have interest in returning to the sports entertainment giant. In fact, one WWE source reportedly said it’s a “safe bet” that CM Punk will appear at Survivor Series, which will take place in Chicago on November 25th.

However, a previous report from Fightful Select indicated that Punk still has “a ton of heat” backstage and would likely need to “make good” with multiple people before a return would be possible.

WWE Sources Claim There Are No Plans For CM Punk To Return

Now, another update from Fightful Select indicates that while Punk had sent out feelers to WWE to gauge interest, the two sides are not in talks as of now, and no return is currently planned. According to the report, sources high up in WWE claim that any reports of Punk having signed with the company are false, and that as of October 10th, the two sides are not in discussions over a return. Several sources in the company wanted that to be clear to fans who may expect to see the star at Survivor Series.

In addition, several talents reportedly went to those in power to ask directly about a Punk return, and they were told that there are no plans for him to return at this time.

Continuing, Fightful reports that sources believe Punk has sent out feelers to the company and has been waiting to see if they’ll approach him. Fightful has not heard back from CM Punk directly.

As always, plans are subject to change. TJR Wrestling will continue to report on CM Punk’s status as more information becomes available.
