CM Punk Mentioned On AEW Dynamite

CM Punk

CM Punk might now be a WWE Superstar once again but he was name-dropped on AEW television for possibly the last time.

CM Punk shocked the world when he returned to WWE at the end of Survivor Series, ending an almost ten-year exile from the company he walked out of in January 2014.

CM Punk was fired less than three months before his WWE return by AEW following his part in a backstage altercation with Jack Perry at All In. It has since emerged that Bryan Danielson played a key part in Punk’s firing from the AEW, heading up a three-person committee that made that decision.

Tony Khan says he can’t legally talk about CM Punk but that doesn’t mean some of his AEW stars won’t drop his name on shows.

MJF Mentions CM Punk, WWE & Cody Rhodes On AEW Dynamite

Dynamite in Minneapolis saw AEW World Champion MJF come to the ring to give an impassioned promo where he said he wasn’t in the company for the money but was there because he believed in it – which many have suggested could have been a subtle dig at Punk’s last comments on Monday Night Raw.

MJF noted that he had beaten several stars and mentioned both Cody Rhodes and CM Punk among many other AEW stars. Looking ahead to his Worlds End match with Samoa Joe, MJF also noted that Joe had not been afforded the accolades he deserved during his time in WWE.

The segment ended with MJF being attacked by the mysterious Devil’s henchmen before he was saved once again by Samoa Joe. MJF then signed himself and Joe up for a match against two of the attackers, something that left his Worlds End challenger less than thrilled.
