CM Punk To Be “Heavily Involved” In Creative On AEW Collision
CM Punk will be a big part of the new AEW Collision show on screen and will have a major say in things behind the scenes as well.
The first episode of AEW Collision is just over two weeks away on Saturday, June 17th from the United Center in Chicago. This past week on AEW Dynamite, AEW’s Owner Tony Khan announced that the first episode of Collision will feature the return of former two-time AEW World Champion CM Punk.
While CM Punk is expected to be heavily featured on Collision on camera, he will also have a lot of sway in what happens behind the scenes as well.
Ace Steel is also returning to AEW after being fired by the company last year after his role in the AEW All Out fight where he was supporting CM Punk against The Elite’s Kenny Omega, Matt Jackson & Nick Jackson. However, Steel is believed to be working remotely for AEW and may not be going to the actual Collision shows.
In this week’s Wrestling Observer Newsletter, Dave Meltzer wrote that Punk and Steel, who are very close friends, will have a big say regarding what happens on AEW Collision.
“The belief is Punk and Ace Steel will be heavily involved in the creative of the show. At least they will be for Punk’s stuff and the main angles and storyline on the show will revolve around him and obviously he’ll have great input into that.”
It was also noted by Meltzer that CM Punk was in Las Vegas during the weekend while AEW was running their Double or Nothing pay-per-view, but Punk was not at the Double or Nothing event itself.
When CM Punk returns on AEW Collision, it will be his first time on AEW television since he won the World Title for the second time at All Out in September 2022. That night is when Punk went on a press conference night and got into the locker room fight with The Elite. That was also the same night that Punk tore his triceps muscle, which required surgery and a lengthy rehab process, but he’s expected to be cleared by now.
