CM Punk “Was In Tears” After Early WWE Match

CM Punk

One of CM Punk’s earliest WWE matches caused him to lose his composure and become emotional.

CM Punk first signed with WWE in 2005 and made his main roster debut on the ECW brand. At the time, ECW was considered the ‘third brand’ and was mostly composed of aging veterans, new signees, and lower-priority wrestlers.

Determined to make a name for himself, Punk worked his way up the ECW roster, which included some matches with Justin Credible.

Punk beat Credible on two occasions, first on August 1st, 2006, and then two weeks later in what ended up being Credible’s last match with WWE.

And according to Credible, who spoke on the Cheap Heat Productions Podcast, that latter match was so good it moved CM Punk to tears.

“It was a great match for TV, for his debut especially, and he was super cool. I remember, and this is not an exaggeration – my wife was there, she can attest to this as well – he came up to me and literally was in tears thanking me [on] how well it went. He was so grateful for the opportunity. I’m like, ‘Brother, it’s your ball now. God bless you. Do good with it.’
