CM Punk Won’t Get Away With Silliness In WWE Says Eric Bischoff

CM Punk WWE

Eric Bischoff has given his take on CM Punk’s return to WWE and fans might be forgiven for thinking Bischoff has softened his stance on the former AEW star.

CM Punk shocked the world when he returned to WWE for the first time in almost a decade at Survivor Series. That comeback came less than three months after Punk was fired by AEW for his part in a backstage altercation with Jack Perry at All In.

Speaking on Strictly Business, Eric Bischoff gave his thoughts on CM Punk’s return to WWE and suggests that if Punk is motivated it could be even better than his first run in the company:

So I’m pretty sure Punk is going to…provided he wants to, motivation is the core of this, right? If Punk woke up and said, ‘Look, I want to have one more really, really good run,’ and if he’s willing to be a team player, I think he’s going to be very successful in WWE.

He’s not going to be able to get away with the same kind of silliness, nor will he be exposed to the same kind of backstage environment that he was exposed to in AEW. He’s going to have to learn to deal with a more corporate, structured environment. If he’s willing, if his intentions are such that he really wants to make this work and be a team player, I think his second run will be better than his first in WWE.

Has Eric Bischoff Changed His Tune On CM Punk?

Eric Bischoff has previously insisted that WWE did not need CM Punk prior to the star returning to the company. In fact, Bischoff has previously called Punk “a piece of garbage” and the WWE Hall of Famer dismissed CM Punk’s run in AEW.

Quite what makes Eric Bischoff think the man he once called “the biggest financial flop in wrestling history” can have an even better run than his first in WWE remains to be seen.
