CM Punk Finally Gets First WWE WrestleMania Match Since 2013

CM Punk

The last time CM Punk competed at WrestleMania was twelve years ago but now he’s booked a huge match at WWE’s biggest show of the year.

At the Royal Rumble, Roman Reigns was eliminated at the same time as Seth Rollins by CM Punk. Rollins was enraged by what happened and took out Reigns with a nasty double-foot Stomp to get to Punk. When those two men were separated, Rollins hit his former Shield partner with another Stomp on the steel steps for good measure.

On the March 10 edition of Raw, Seth Rollins and CM Punk looked set to put their issues with one another behind them once and for all in a steel cage match. With Rollins looking on the verge of victory, Roman Reigns pulled the cage door open and dragged Rollins to the floor – giving him the unintended victory in the process.

Roman Reigns nailed Rollins with a Superman Punch, Spear, and Stomp of his own before he noticed what was happening in the ring. Reigns wasn’t alone as Paul Heyman returned with him but Heyman was in the ring consoling his old friend CM Punk – a man Heyman still owes a favour to. Upon seeing this, Reigns got in the ring and drove CM Punk into the cage before one more Spear to take him out and stand tall as the show went off the air.

CM Punk In WrestleMania Triple Threat Match

CM Punk vowed to confront Reigns when SmackDown headed to Bologna, Italy and that’s exactly what happened while Seth Rollins also wanted to get involved. The three stars ended SmackDown in a huge brawl with Triple H later confirming on social media that they would clash in a triple threat match at WrestleMania 41.

CM Punk returned to WWE in November 2023 but was injured in the Royal Rumble, ruling him out of a match at WrestleMania 40. Punk made his presence felt at that show, however, as he cost Drew McIntyre the World Heavyweight Championship moments after McIntyre won the gold from Rollins.

That means the last time CM Punk competed on the grandest stage of them all was in 2013 when he became the final victim of The Undertaker’s undefeated streak.
