CM Punk has opened up about what he was feeling when he returned to WWE at Survivor Series in Chicago.

At WWE Survivor Series, there were all kinds of rumors about whether CM Punk would return to the company after nearly ten years away.

Punk was a free agent after getting fired by AEW in early September due to a backstage fight at their All In show in London, England. However, going into Survivor Series, it wasn’t known for sure if Punk would be there even though some fans might have been hopeful that it was going to happen.

When it looked like Survivor Series was about to sign off, “Cult of Personality” hit and the Allstate Arena crowd erupted in noise as CM Punk appeared at a WWE show for the first time since he left the company in January 2014.

During a WWE 2024 Preview show on Peacock, CM Punk gave an exclusive interview where he spoke about what he was feeling before his return at Survivor Series.

“Everything happened that day so fast. You should never text and drive, ladies and gentlemen. I was trying to drive to the Allstate Arena and let everybody that deserved to know that was in my orbit know what was about to happen. I’m texting my sisters. Nobody knew. That’s how you get things done in this business. You keep things close to the vest. You don’t leak stuff. That’s when the magic happens.”

“It was a magical moment. There were so many things going through my head. The nerves, people I hadn’t seen in ten years. I had questions, concerns, maybe even worries. It was all solved the instant the song hit and I walked out in front of my hometown. I couldn’t hear the song anymore. I didn’t know my cues. All of it went out the window, I couldn’t hear the song, I could only hear the people. It was a magic moment.”

CM Punk Returns On WWE Raw

The first episode of Raw was CM Punk free even though he was backstage at the show in San Diego. The second Raw episode takes place on January 8th in Portland and WWE has heavily promoted that Punk will be there.

In addition to Punk being on the January 8th edition of Raw as well as the January 22nd episode, Punk will be in the Men’s Royal Rumble match on January 27th at the Royal Rumble Premium Live Event.

While CM Punk has yet to wrestle on WWE TV, he did pick up two wins over Dominik Mysterio at live events in the final week of 2023, including a big win at Madison Square Garden in front of a sold out crowd.
