CM Punk Could Face Attitude Check From WWE
CM Punk is back in WWE and it looks like his first feud is set in the company but could Punk find himself on the losing end of his first match?
CM Punk shocked the world when he returned to WWE at Survivor Series after almost ten years away. If fans are to believe Punk’s saccharine sweet promo on Raw, then Punk believes he is home and has been met with universal love – well almost universal.
Footage of Seth Rollins being held back from confronting CM Punk at Survivor Series went viral after Punk’s appearance and it looks like WWE is capitalising on the very public dislike between both men. Seth Rollins has previously described CM Punk as “a cancer” but it is believed his Survivor Series antics were all part of the show.
With a feud between World Heavyweight Champion Rollins and Punk now surely brewing, Punk could find himself facing feast or famine in his first WWE match in a decade.
Could WWE Have CM Punk Lose His First Match Back?
Speaking on Wrestling Observer Radio, Dave Meltzer was asked if CM Punk could lose his first match in WWE and said WWE could check his attitude by having that happen:
I think that they may do that. They may do that to see his attitude, I could see that. I think from a business standpoint – that’s the problem, from a pure business standpoint, if he had no baggage on him and everything like that, I would say he really should win, he’s so over blah blah blah. But I don’t know you can go that way.
I think he almost has to do something to prove he will do business and I’m sure he will because he has to. They’re not gonna put up with him saying no so I think that there’s a good shot that’ll happen. Long term, they do wanna go with him and Roman Reigns so in that case what do you do?
CM Punk has not been confirmed for any WWE bout as of yet and could end up wrestling before a likely showdown with Rollins at the Royal Rumble. A win for Punk over Rollins could propel him to the promised land of a much sought-after WrestleMania main event after all these years.
