WWE Hall Of Famer Blasts CM Punk For “Childish” Comments
CM Punk has been criticized by a WWE Hall of Famer that called the former AEW World Champion’s recent comments “childish.”
It was earlier this week when CM Punk was back in the news despite the fact that he hasn’t wrestled for AEW since the All Out pay-per-view last September when he won the AEW World Title for the second time.
That same night at All Out when Punk beat Jon Moxley to beat the AEW World Title saw suffer torn triceps injury. CM Punk also got in the much-publicized backstage fight with Ace Steel against Kenny Omega and The Young Bucks. Steel got fired, Omega and The Young Bucks got suspended for under two months and Punk’s future is a big question mark.
In a now-deleted Instagram story post, CM Punk wrote this complaining about AEW’s Chris Jericho, Moxley and Dave Meltzer of the Wrestling Observer Newsletter.
“SIGH. I wasn’t cleared to come back to wrestle yet. Then plan was to wrestle at the PPV. I sat and listened to Moxley’s Rocky III idea. I explained how I’d never seen a Rocky movie. I and thought the idea sucked but if the boss wanted to do it whatever.
He said he wouldn’t lose to me. I’d never experienced someone refusing to lose to me. I just laughed. I asked Tony [Khan] if this was what he wanted. He said yes. He’s the boss so I said okay but I’d need to be cleared first.
They kept saying it could just be a squash so I didn’t need to be cleared. I scoffed at that. My health is more important.
Dave Meltzer is a liar. [Chris] Jericho is a liar and a stooge. There were plans but plans always change but I’ll never put a company above my health ever again.”
Booker T is a two-time WWE Hall of Famer that reacted to Punk’s comments on his Hall of Fame podcast.
“One thing about insider information and stuff like that, brother, it just goes to show me what this business is. Where you’re talking about the business, and giving all of the insider information to the fans that watch. They’re the ones that’re writing your check. That’s the dumbest thing I could ever imagine in my life! Certain terms being used in that little soliloquy… It just amazes me how childish these guys really are.”
As he continued, Booker also praised Chris Jericho.
“[Chris Jericho is] the most professional guy in that company thus far.”
When asked what he thinks about Punk’s Instagram in general, Booker didn’t shy away from giving a strong opinion.
“The [most] childish thing I’ve ever seen in my life, as far as a 44-year-old man talking on [Instagram].”
While it is believed that Punk is healed from his torn triceps injury, a recent report suggests that AEW has “lost confidence” in a CM Punk return any time soon.
