WWE Hall Of Famer Thinks CM Punk AEW Drama Is A Work
CM Punk is set to return to AEW in June while one WWE Hall of Famer thinks all the drama surrounding that return is just a work.
In the world of pro wrestling, calling something a “work” means that you believe it’s all part of the show. A “shoot” is the opposite of that because that would be a real situation.
Over the last week, AEW has officially announced that the debut of their new Saturday night show Collision will be on Saturday, June 17th at the United Center. While they didn’t announce him by name, it’s also expected to be the return of the former two-time AEW World Champion CM Punk.
It was also reported this past week that CM Punk and people within AEW apparently signed non-disclosure agreements (NDAs) to prevent them from talking about the backstage fight that Punk was a part of at AEW All Out in September 2022. That was when we last saw Punk on AEW television when he won the AEW World Title, went on a press conference, had a backstage fight, and also tore his triceps all in the same night.
CM Punk has since had surgery on that torn triceps and is expected to be medically cleared to wrestle again since the injury was over nine months ago at this point.
Teddy Long is a WWE Hall of Famer that worked with Punk for many years in WWE and Teddy has also been around the pro wrestling business for over years.
While speaking to Sportskeeda, Teddy Long said that he thinks all of the CM Punk talk regarding AEW is just a work meaning it’s part of the story the company is trying to tell.
“It’s called drama. It’s drama and what it does is make you hurry up and wait. It’s all basically a work.”
If it really was a work then that might surprise some people, but when it comes to pro wrestling, a lot of people think things are a work even if it’s more of a “shoot” like Punk’s issues with people in AEW appear to be.
