CJ Perry Linked To Ex-WWE Star For AEW Role

Dolph Ziggler could be a target for AEW and a new report has noted that the company is already hearing creative pitches for the star.

Former World Heavyweight Champion Dolph Ziggler was released by WWE back in September 2023, ending his nineteen-year run in the company. Ziggler was not the only one let go as mass layoffs returned to the roster with other stars such as Mustafa Ali, Matt Riddle, Elias, and Shelton Benjamin joining him on the chopping block.

Dolph Ziggler has already announced his first match in his post-WWE career where he will go by his real name of Nic Nemeth but a new permanent home could be on the horizon for The Showoff.

Dolph Ziggler Set To Reunite With CJ Perry?

WrestlePurists has reported that sources in AEW have said that many within the company are pushing for Tony Khan to sign Dolph Ziggler. A creative pitch has even been made suggesting that he once again pair up with CJ Perry as they briefly were in WWE.

It is pointed out that no negotiations are known to have taken place between Ziggler and AEW as he is still in the non-compete phase of his WWE contract.

CJ Perry and Ziggler were paired together in WWE in 2015 as part of an ill-fated storyline. Perry – then known as Lana – had left her partner Rusev – now better known as Miro – and formed a relationship with Ziggler on WWE TV leading to matches at SummerSlam and Night of Champions. However, WWE abandoned the storyline when Perry and Miro went public about their real-life engagement.

Currently, CJ Perry is managing Andrade El Idolo in AEW much to her husband Miro’s chagrin. Miro has vowed to let El Idolo get through the Continental Classic but there could be trouble on the horizon after that.
