Christian Cage Wins TNT Title, Will Defend At WrestleDream
Christian Cage has legitimately won the TNT Championship and he’ll have to defend it at WrestleDream as well.
Ever since Luchasaurus won the TNT Championship on the debut episode of AEW Collision on June 17th, Christian Cage carried around that title as if he were the champion. That’s because Christian is a manipulator who has used mind games to control Luchasaurus for months.
At last night’s episode of AEW Collision in Grand Rapids, Michigan, there was a triple threat match that opened the show with Luchasaurus defending the TNT Championship against Darby Allin and Christian.
In the championship on Collision, it looked like Allin had the match won when he hit a Coffin Drop off the top rope onto Luchasaurus. While Allin was going for a pinfall, Christian Cage got back into the ring and tossed Allin out of the ring. Christian covered his friend Luchasaurus for the pinfall win to become the new TNT Champion.
Christian Cage will defend the TNT Championship at AEW WrestleDream
Later on Collision, Christian Cage was interviewed about his title win and had a unique victory dedication:
“I would like to dedicate this victory to Nick Wayne’s mom, and his late father. I’m finished with Darby.”
While Christian Cage was hoping to be finished with Darby, Tony Schiavone informed Cage that “Tony Khan has announced you’ll be facing Darby next Sunday in a two out of three falls match at Wrestledream!”
This will be the second straight AEW PPV where Allin will get a TNT Title match since he also challenged Luchasaurus at All Out earlier this month and lost the match.
Christian Cage is now the oldest man to hold the TNT Championship at 49 years of age. He turns 50 years old on November 30th and certainly looks like a man who is still in his prime. Earlier this month, Christian Cage spoke about signing a new long-term contract with AEW. Clearly, the company is happy with him and rewarded him with a championship for his great work.
