Christian Cage To Miss Prolonged Period Of Action
He performed just two moves at All Out due to injury but now, it seems Christian Cage may be out of action for longer than first believed.
Fans were confused at AEW All Out when Christian Cage vs. ‘Jungle Boy’ Jack Perry, one of the most anticipated bouts on the entire card, went just 20 seconds. A Spear and a Killswitch were the only two moves of the match, which, quite clearly, didn’t live up to expectations.
Fightful Select reported following the match that ‘The Instant Classic’ was dealing with an injury, with Dave Meltzer discussing its severity on the latest Wrestling Observer Radio:
“His injury may be the exact same injury as [CM] Punk (believed to be torn triceps). So we’re talking again like an eight-month-ish, six-to-nine months of being out.”
Christian was spotted wearing an arm brace in his match with former ally Jack Perry. Perry acknowledged Cage’s injury on the latest AEW Dynamite, confirming his surgery.
This injury comes off the back of several others suffered at All Out. CM Punk has suffered an arm injury that will keep him out of action until 2023, while Alex Reynolds is nursing a foot injury. This is said to be the reason for The Dark Order’s absence from the vacant AEW World Trios Championships bout.
It’s unknown if Christian Cage’s rivalry vs. Jungle Boy will continue when he ultimately returns. He realigned with Luchasaurus at All Out, with the former Jurassic Express man laying out his now-former tag team partner with a brutal Chokeslam on the stage.
