Christian Cage Comments On Adam Copeland’s AEW Debut
Christian Cage has commented on the shock AEW debut of Adam Copeland and says he still only has one friend.
The man known to most as Edge shocked the world at WrestleDream when he helped usher in the Rated R era to AEW.
On the show, Darby Allin and Christian Cage headlined in a brutal match that saw Allin’s body slammed into steel steps and the wooden boards of the ring exposed. Nick Wayne’s mother watched from the front row as Cage sleazily taunted her while he beat Allin repeatedly. Wayne eventually made his presence felt and looked set to get his revenge on Cage for weeks of torment before he slammed the TNT Title belt into the face of Darby Allin instead. Wayne’s interjection allowed Cage to pick up the win and retain his title.
But the beating wasn’t done there which drew out Sting to try and help his partner. Luchasaurus gave Cage’s outfit the numbers advantage again and Cage looked set to hit a sickening con-chair-to before the lights went out. A video package played and familiar music hit as Adam Copeland announced himself into AEW.
Copeland was handed the chair by his long-time tag team partner but rather than finish off Sting with it, he took out Luchasarus and Wayne as Christian Cage slithered away.
Christian Cage doesn’t care about Adam Copeland in AEW
Speaking at the post-WrestleDream press conference, Christian Cage was asked for his thoughts on his old friend’s shock debut and in typical fashion quickly brought the subject back to himself:
“I said this at the last scrum, I don’t have any friends other than Luchasaurus. Was I surprised to see him? Yes. Did I care? Not really. It doesn’t change anything for me. I’m still the face of TNT, I’m still the TNT Champion, I’m still the man to beat in AEW, you understand that right?
“A few short months ago people were saying this title meant nothing and I’ve taken it and I’ve main evented WrestleDream tonight with it, I made this title. This title, in my opinion, is more prestigious than the world title mainly because I carry it. But I think my track record speaks for itself and I think you have to give me my flowers now, do you not?”
Christian Cage and Adam Copeland might get up close with one another on the special Title Tuesday edition of AEW Dynamite as Copeland will compete in his first match in the company on the 10th of October against Luchasaurus.
