Chris Jericho Drops Massive WWE Return Hint Before AEW Contract Expiry

Chris Jericho entrance AEW Dynamite

Has Chris Jericho just dropped a hint that he could be open to a WWE return after his current AEW deal ends?

Chris Jericho is an AEW original, joining the company on its launch in early 2019. Jericho seemed destined to be a lifer in WWE, but the door was opened to other things when Jericho faced off with Kenny Omega in New Japan Pro Wrestling at Wrestle Kingdom in 2018.

Jericho returned to WWE after that bout for the first Saudi Arabia show, but he was back in NJPW two months later and never looked back when AEW was formed. Chris Jericho became the inaugural AEW World Champion at All Out 2019 and has remained an integral part of the roster, heading up groups such as Inner Circle and the Jericho Appreciation Society.

Chris Jericho has not been seen in AEW since losing the ROH World Title to Bandido at Dynasty in April 2025. Jericho’s deal with AEW ends in December 2025, and it seems he’s open to leaving Tony Khan’s promotion.

Taking to social media, Chris Jericho liked a post suggesting that he could be open to a WWE return at the end of his current AEW deal.

Could Chris Jericho Be The Latest AEW Star To Join WWE?

Whether Chris Jericho would actually welcome a return to WWE remains to be seen, but it’s almost certain that the sports entertainment giant would welcome him back.

Over the past couple of years, the likes of Lexis King, Shawn Spears, Ethan Page, Ricky Saints, Penta, Rey Fenix, Aleister Black, Rusev, and Blake Monroe have made the jump from AEW to WWE to varying degrees of success.

Chris Jericho would likely be an immediate candidate for the WWE Hall of Fame if he left AEW, but he might wish to continue what he’s started in Tony Khan’s company.
