Chris Jericho Won’t Be Recreating Infamous AEW Spot

Chris Jericho makes his entrance in AEW.

Swerve Strickland and Adam Page stole the show with a controversial match at AEW Full Gear and Chris Jericho has given his thoughts on one gruesome moment.

Page and Strickland were engaged in an increasingly personal feud heading into AEW Full Gear with both men involving the other’s family in the weeks leading up to the match. That led to a Texas Death Match challenge being made and it ensured fans in Los Angeles were treated to a truly horrific affair.

The one moment that had everyone talking in a match that involved broken glass, barbed wire, and a staple gun was when Page lay under a bleeding Swerve Strickland and allowed Strickland’s blood to flow directly into his mouth.

Chris Jericho Wouldn’t Be Drinking Blood In An AEW Ring

Speaking on his Talk Is Jericho podcast, Chris Jericho gave his own thoughts on the bloody battle between Page and Strickland and says the blood-drinking is not something he’ll be doing in a wrestling ring:

I mean Swerve and Hangman was so batsh*t crazy. You’ll never see another match like that. It was probably one of the most violent, bloodiest matches of all time, I still can’t get the image of Hangman drinking Swerve’s blood, so disgusting. I don’t think I would ever do that, it’s something out of a horror movie or something.

Chris Jericho also questioned how you follow a bloody battle like that and the way to do it is with storytelling as was demonstrated in his tag team match with Kenny Omega against The Young Bucks. The Young Bucks threw a tantrum after losing and have since ended their popular Being The Elite show.

Despite the Page/Strickland match being polarising, to say the least, Dave Meltzer awarded the brutal AEW battle five stars, despite not liking the bout himself.
