Chris Jericho Reportedly WWE-Bound; Expected Return Date Revealed

Chris Jericho AEW

Chris Jericho may be headed to WWE after all, and sooner than expected.

Jericho has not been featured in a professional wrestling match since April 6, 2025. In his last match, he lost to Bandido in a Title vs. Mask match at AEW Dynasty.

In the following Dynamite episode, he lashed out at his The Learning Tree stablemates, Big Bill and Bryan Keith, before announcing that he was leaving, although the timeline of his return was left ambiguous.

Since then, several reports have emerged about his All Elite Wrestling status, with some even claiming that the creative team had no storylines for the veteran.

In the midst of conflicting reports, Chris Jericho liked an Instagram post claiming that he was not opposed to a WWE return.

His activity started speculations that have been ongoing to this day.

Recently, Jon Alba of Sports Illustrated stirred the pot some more when he took to X and provided an update on Jericho’s wrestling future.

He revealed the end date of the Canadian wrestler’s contract, stating that his decision not to sign a new AEW deal was an indication that he was WWE-bound.

Chris Jericho May Demand Creative Control In WWE

During a recent episode of The Coach & Bro podcast, ex-WWE writer Vince Russo claimed that Chris Jericho may seek creative control for his character upon his return to the company.

Russo said that no amount of money that the promotion offered him would be enough if it meant relinquishing creative control.

If Jericho is watching like us Coach, it’s gotta be that creative control. He can’t let Triple H do that to him on his way out. I don’t think all the money in the world be worth it to Chris (Jericho). Chris doesn’t need the money. He has a legacy. Anybody that sees what just happened (with John Cena), man, if you’re gonna put your last couple of years in Triple H’s hands? I don’t see Jericho doing it. I just don’t.
