Chris Bey Shares Positive Update As Recovery Continues

Chris Bey

Chris Bey is continuing his impressive recovery after being paralysed.

During the October 27 TNA TV tapings, Chris Bey suffered a serious neck injury during a match with The Hardys while teaming with Ace Austin.

As soon as it became apparent that Bey was injured, the match was halted, and he was taken away on a stretcher. Once at the hospital, Bey underwent surgery, but the exact nature of his injuries and condition was kept private.

After being given only a 25% chance of ever walking again, Bey got back to his feet in February and filmed himself walking a short distance.

Chris Bey Continues To Make Progress

During an appearance on Talk Is Jericho, Bey gave fans an update on his condition, revealing that he’s now able to live an independent life. He noted that he’s started to get his grip strength back, and he’s able to drive.

“I’m completely independent where I can dress myself, I can feed myself. One of the things that I struggled with last was my grip strength as far as opening things. I couldn’t really open bottles and stuff. And I still have trouble depending on the type of bottle, opening things.

But I can drive myself now. I can pretty much do everything that I need to do, you know, on the day-to-day basis.”

Although he knows that it’s a long way off, Bey reiterated that he’s determined to return to the ring, even if it’s just for one more match. He emphasised that rather than purely wrestling, his comeback is about getting to finish things on his own terms.

“I truly look at it like, I’m going to let time tell me. And I’m going to let my body tell me,” Bey said. “I think when I think about wrestling, it’s not so much about going back to wrestling and getting back in wrestling as much as it is at least finishing my story my way, whether that means one more match or one more program, whatever it is.”

The star also revealed that he’s spoken to several TNA figures about working backstage in some capacity.

Bey made his most recent TNA appearance at Bound For Glory, where he was presented with the All-Star award by the company President, Carlos Silva.
