Charlotte Flair Plans To Step Away From WWE For Personal Reason
Charlotte Flair may soon bid goodbye to the WWE Universe.
The Queen joined the Stamford-based company in 2012 and spent nearly three years in NXT before making her main roster debut in 2015 as part of the Women’s Revolution. The 39-year-old has since become arguably the greatest female superstar in WWE’s history, winning 14 world titles.
Despite Flair’s success in the squared circle, she has been open about her struggles outside the ring. Last year, The Queen divorced from former WWE star Andrade. She later revealed that they had tried to have children but found difficulty conceiving.
Nevertheless, the current WWE Women’s Tag Team Champion made it clear that she was still adamant about having children, even if she would do it alone.
Charlotte Flair Addresses Her WWE Future
During a recent interview with Nightcap with Unc & Ocho, Charlotte Flair opened up on her in-ring future, disclosing that she did not know how long she would continue to compete. The 14-time world champion confessed that she wants to have kids one day, and while she believes she could do both, it would depend on the timing.
The Queen pointed out that if she were to become a mom, she would want to return to wrestling like Trish Stratus did. However, she knows she wants to step away from WWE for a time to have kids.
How much longer do I want to wrestle? I don’t know. I want kids one day. That’s the thing. I can do both, but it just depends on timing. Right now, I’m focused on what’s coming up—NXT Homecoming Tuesday, WrestlePalooza, Royal Rumble, WrestleMania. The shows keep going, so it’s really about what happens between now and the next five years.
If I were to have kids, would I come back or be done? Wrestling’s in my blood. I don’t know anything different. I love it. But I do want to be a mom. And seeing someone like Trish Stratus come back and have these one-off matches at 50, looking better than half the roster—she’s killing it. So I don’t think that door will ever close. I just know I’d want to step away for a time to have children. [H/T: Ringside News]
Flair currently holds the Women’s Tag Team Championship alongside Alexa Bliss. They are now set to defend the title against The Culling on NXT Homecoming.
