Charlotte Flair Pushed For Star To Join WWE
A report has claimed Charlotte Flair wants to see a former WWE star back in the company.
Following Worlds End on December 30th, Tony Khan confirmed that Andrade El Idolo would be leaving AEW. Rumours had been linking Andrade with the exit ever since Triple H took creative control of WWE, and it seems that this prediction will come to pass.
A new report from Fightful Select has given an update on Andrade’s current status, and the weeks leading up to his departure from AEW. The report notes that the star would have been a free agent earlier, had time not been added to his two-year deal due to an injury suffered in the summer of 2022.
Andrade was said to be open about his contract status while with AEW and despite initially mentioning that he was planning to stay, he later told colleagues he was returning to WWE. In fact, some within AEW expected him to appear on WWE programming the week he left.
Several people who worked near Andrade during this period said it was a “frustrating process,” and he let people know he was leaving in the days before Worlds End.
While it’s been an open secret that Andrade had pushed for Ric Flair to be signed by AEW, the report from Fightful revealed that Charlotte Flair — Andrade’s wife, had been pushing for the AEW star to be brought back to WWE.
WWE sources haven’t confirmed that Andrade will be re-signing with the company, but many feel it’s his likely destination. The report claims that Andrade has an agreement with the company.
Charlotte Flair Dealing With Serious Injury
Charlotte Flair is set to be out of action for nine months after suffering a serious knee injury. During a match against Asuka during the special Tribute To The Troops episode of SmackDown, the star fell awkwardly from the top turnbuckle onto the ring ropes.
Flair has since undergone surgery and has been filmed working out at the gym with her rehab now well underway.
