Charlotte Flair Gets Candid About Her “Complicated Relationship”
Charlotte Flair has made a heartfelt confession.
The Queen joined the Stamford-based company in 2012. In a recent article she wrote in The Players Tribune, Ric Flair’s daughter recalled reporting to class in FCW and being asked to fill out a form.
One of the information she had to provide was whether she knew a wrestler in the business. She filled it out with “My pops,” which did not impress head trainer Norman Smiley. The latter asked her to write a name, telling her, “No one knows who ‘my pops’ is.”
The 14-time world champion then opened up about her struggles with the Flair name. She stated that being a Flair in WWE was never her dream, but her late brother Reid’s, adding that she only entered the wrestling business because her brother needed her.
The SmackDown star pointed out her struggles being a Flair, revealing that she had always had a “complicated relationship” with her last name.
Even though it IS my dream, now, and I’m dreaming for both of us……. I think I’ll always have a complicated relationship with the name “Flair.” I think that for the rest of my wrestling career, and probably for the rest of my life, I’ll wake up in the morning and I’ll ask the same question:
How am I going to be Charlotte Flair today?
Most days I have the answer. Some days I don’t.
