Carmella Feels Punished By WWE For Having A Baby
Carmella feels she has been punished by WWE for having a baby and claims the company ghosted her putting an end to her 12-year run.
Carmella has not wrestled since March 2023 as she and WWE announcer Corey Graves welcomed their first child together into the world in November of that same year.
Carmella developed a medical condition during the delivery of her son and as a result, is still no closer to making a return to the ring. The former WWE SmackDown Women’s Champion recently explained that she wanted to get back to WWE but her condition could take a very long time to heal. But now it doesn’t look like that will happen.
It was recently reported that Carmella’s WWE contract has expired meaning that she is no longer with the company and could potentially sign elsewhere.
Now on social media, a preview of her appearance on the Barely Famous podcast has been released where she gives her side of the story on her WWE exit.
Carmella Ghosted By WWE
Carmella reveals how she was told her WWE career was coming to an end and feels like she is being punished for choosing to have a baby:
It just feels like a sh***y way to end a twelve-year career with the company, like, this is how it ended. I got a call saying that my contract was up in ten days…ghosted. Ghosted, completely ghosted.
What if this is the end of my career? Like, what am I doing with my life? What do I have to offer? Why wasn’t I given an opportunity somewhere else…I feel like I’m being punished because I had a baby.
The host suggests WWE could change their mind in the future to which Carmella questions why she’d want to be in a company that doesn’t want her:
Why would you want to be somewhere that doesn’t want you? I wish more for women in general and moms and especially athletes. I feel like you shouldn’t have to choose one. Why can’t you have both?
