Carmella Details What Hurt About WWE Release
Former WWE Women’s Champion Carmella has opened up about what hurts the most about being let go by the company.
It was reported in February 2025 that former WWE Women’s Champion Carmella would no longer be a part of WWE after 12 years with the company.
Carmella worked her way up as a manager in NXT to become a wrestler and succeed on the main roster, both on Raw and Smackdown. During her career, she was a former WWE Women’s Champion and Women’s Tag Team Champion.
After giving birth to a son in November 2023, Carmella developed a medical condition called drop foot during the delivery, and she wasn’t able to come back and wrestle. It is believed that WWE would not renew her contract after it expired.
While speaking to The Wrestling Classic, Carmella talked about past comments where she had an issue with how WWE let her go and clarified it a bit more while saying that trailer was put out about an interview she did and that people took the trailer the wrong way.
“A trailer for anything, whether it’s a TV show, a podcast, or a movie, is supposed to get people talking and intrigued, and that’s what the trailer did. When that little teaser reel dropped, people were just taking the things that were said out of context. If you actually listen to the entire podcast, you know what I was saying.
I wasn’t at all saying anything bad about WWE. I’m so grateful for my time at WWE.”
She went on to further explain her feelings.
“Eventually I’m going to leave WWE. There’s no way I can work there forever. For me personally, I was just a little upset and hurt, I guess, with how it ended, but it was going to end no matter what. I was just a little hurt with how it ended. That’s all.
I feel like at the moment it was very jarring and I was shocked because I didn’t get a lot of notice. To me, that’s what kind of was like, wow…”
Carmella And Corey Graves Announce She Is Pregant With Second Child
Corey Graves is a WWE announcer who has been in that role for over a decade. He has been married to Carmella since April 2022. The couple already have a young son, Carmella, and Graves announced in April that she’s pregnant with the couple’s second child. Graves also has three kids from his first marriage, so it’s a big family that continues to grow.
While summarizing her career with WWE, Carmella spoke about it positively.
“I’m so happy. Everything happens for a reason. I feel so blessed. I’m so grateful for my time in WWE.”
As we have seen many times in the world of wrestling, people get let go and come back and have future matches, so it’s certainly something that could happen down the road for Carmella as well.
