Carlito Says He’s Signed With WWE Again
Former WWE star Carlito has been telling people that he is once again signed with the company following his appearance at Backlash.
Backlash took place in Puerto Rico and saw rap star Bad Bunny take on Damian Priest in a wild San Juan Street Fight. The match saw The Judgment Day get involved which brought out the LWO and Puerto Rico’s own Carlito. The former Intercontinental Champion received a raucous reception from the lively crowd as he took the fight to Finn Balor and Dominik Mysterio.
Speaking on Wrestling Observer Radio, Dave Meltzer indicated that Carlito could well be back under contract with WWE after the star canceled a planned appearance on an independent show in July:
“The only thing I know there is he had an independent show on July 15th for Devon Nicholson in Canada and he called him up to cancel and said that he is signed with WWE. So perhaps he is signed with WWE. Wouldn’t surprise me because he got that big, big pop in Puerto Rico.”
Carlito last competed in a WWE ring back in 2021 after he returned at that year’s men’s Royal Rumble match. His time in the company as a full-time star ended in 2010 when he refused to attend rehab following a wellness policy violation.

WWE was believed to be under an official hiring freeze as the Endeavor takeover is finalized. If Carlito’s claims are true, it could indicate that any freeze is over and that could open the door for other free agents.
