Bryan Danielson Taking A Break From AEW
Bryan Danielson won’t make a quick return to AEW television.
At AEW Dynasty, Bryan Danielson took on Will Ospreay in what many called one of the best matches ever seen in North America.
When the final bell rang, it was Ospreay who had his hand raised, following a Storm Driver ’91 and Hidden Blade. After the match, medics and officials checked on the American Dragon given his history of concussion issues, although he was able to walk backstage.
At the post-show media scrum, Will Ospreay said he’d be retiring the Storm Driver ’91, apologising for hurting Danielson.
In reality, it seems the comments and injury angle are a way of writing Danielson off television.
Bryan Danielson Taking A Break
Writing in the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, Dave Meltzer confirmed that Danielson will be taking some time off.
Bryan Danielson is taking time off as they are using the Storm Driver spot in the Ospreay match with the idea he has a neck injury. The move was actually done safely and Danielson landed on his back. But Ospreay is doing an angle that because of what happened to Danielson, he’s never doing the move again. It’s all storyline but Danielson has been going at it hard so he’s going to be getting a break.
Danielson has wrestled a number of gruelling matches in 2024 as he bids to end his full-time career with a bang.
