Bryan Danielson Discusses Laughing At Freak AEW Rampage Accident

Bryan Danielson has confirmed how he is doing after his leg got caught between the entrance ramp and the ring on AEW Rampage, laughing that he is now a “clumsy old man”.

Chaos broke out at the end of the 20th May edition of AEW Rampage, as Bryan Danielson and Jon Moxley ended up involved in a brawl which also included Eddie Kingston, Santana and Ortiz, and the Jericho Appreciation Society.

As the brawl continued, Danielson’s leg bizarrely got caught between the ring and the entrance ramp, where he remained trapped for around ten minutes before being freed.

Having limped out under his own steam, although it was clear he was hurt it was assumed that he hadn’t suffered any serious injury. Although he was pulled from in-ring competition for the 25th May edition of Dynamite, he was able to appear on the show and run in to even the numbers for Moxley and Kingston.

Speaking to Graham “GSM” Matthews of Bleacher Report, Bryan Danielson commented on how he is feeling now and that he is able to see the funny side of the incident.

I laugh at myself. It was my birthday, I just turned 41, I’m this old man who falls into these cracks and can’t get out. If you remember Steve Urkel from Family Matters, I don’t know if it was a regular thing he said, but all that went through my head was, ‘I’m Steve Urkel and I’ve fallen and I can’t get up.’

My ankle and just below my knee are a little bit swollen. I like physical things so even when I’m not wrestling, I like to do jiu-jitsu or kickboxing or hiking. I’m used to things being swollen. I took my kids hiking two days this week, but they are kids hikes, my son is not even two so it’s really just walking, and that was, ‘Okay, I can feel this a little.’

Danielson continued, putting the incident down to him now being a “clumsy old man”.

I was laughing after with Eddie Kingston and Mox. ‘Of course.’ This would have never happened at 28, I would have been very aware of my surroundings, now I’m just this old clumsy man who slips in things.

At present, Bryan Danielson is still scheduled to be a part of the Anarchy In The Arena match at AEW Double Or Nothing.
