Bruce Prichard Says Former WWE Superstar “Just Wasn’t That Good”

On a recent edition of his Something To Wrestle podcast, WWE executive Bruce Prichard was discussing the WWE Vengeance PPV from July 2004.

Before the PPV began, Val Venis would wrestle Tyson Tomko on the Sunday Night Heat show that aired live before the PPV, and when Prichard was asked why Tyson Tomko didn’t have a longer run in WWE.

Because he just wasn’t that good. He’s a big guy, nice guy. But there was just something missing. He didn’t have a logical feel or instinct for the business. Instinct is probably a better word, because he didn’t know logically what to do next.

Bruce Prichard did point out that Tyson Tomko – real name Travis Tomko – looked the part but his in-ring performance wasn’t up to scratch to make it in WWE.

He had all the tools, looked great, he looked like a million bucks. He looked like the kind of guy that’s gonna be a big nasty heel that you want to be on top that people can believe in just by looking at a picture of him. And then that damn bell would have to ring and I just don’t know that Travis was able to deliver once the bell rang. Actually I do know… he wasn’t [able to deliver].

Tyson Tomko would have a run on the main WWE roster for a two-year period from 2004-2006 before he left the company following WrestleMania 22. Tomko would then work in New Japan Pro Wrestling and TNA the next several years before working on the indies until retiring in 2016.

Bruce Prichard Says WWE Hall Of Famers Were Boring

On another recent episode of his podcast, Bruce Prichard described WWE Hall of Famers Arn Anderson and Tully Blanchard as “bland” when they were teaming together in WWE as the Brain Busters, and could have added more value as singles wrestlers instead.
