Brock Lesnar received a huge standing ovation after WWE Backlash went off the air.

The main event of WWE Backlash saw Brock Lesnar face off against Cody Rhodes, who was eager to get his hands on “The Beast Incarnate” after a cheap attack by Lesnar one month ago on Raw.

It was a rabid crowd in San Juan, Puerto Rico since WWE doesn’t go there that often. After all, it was the first WWE Premium Live Event (or pay-per-view) in Puerto Rico since 2005, so when you don’t go to a city for a major show in 18 years, the fans are going to be rabid during most of it. That’s what this crowd was. They were hot all night long.

In the matchup between Cody Rhodes and Brock Lesnar, Cody attacked before the bell, but Lesnar was taken over when things slowed down. Lesnar dominated Cody with multiple German Suplexes and other power moves that he is known for.

A key part of the match was when Cody removed a turnbuckle pad while Lesnar was lifting him for a suplex. Lesnar would end up going head first into the steel turnbuckle and Lesnar was busted open heavily with a lot of blood coming out of his head.

Despite all of the blood loss, Lesnar was able to kick out the Cross Rhodes two times and hit an F5 for a two count. Lesnar would then apply a Kimura Lock armbar on Cody’s left arm, but then Cody managed to push forward and covered Lesnar while still in the Kimura Lock submission. Lesnar didn’t release the hold, so Cody was able to get the pin for the win.

After the match, Cody left the ring while selling the left arm injury. Lesnar would then go on to wipe his bloody head with a towel as the show ended there.

Thanks to WrestlingNewsco, here’s a video of Lesnar receiving a standing ovation from the San Juan crowd after the show was over. The fans also chanted “Suplex City” for the former 10-time WWE World Champion Lesnar. As you can see below, the ovation lasted for over two minutes.
