WWE Hall Of Famer Questions Reports Of Brock Lesnar Having “Heat”
Following reports of Brock Lesnar having “heat” due to his actions in the Royal Rumble, a WWE Hall of Famer doubts that is actually the case.
The term “heat” in pro wrestling is a bad thing because it means somebody did something to anger others, which leads to that person getting heat. It’s a bad thing to be a “heat magnet” in pro wrestling, for example.
During the Royal Rumble match on January 28th, Brock Lesnar was eliminated by his rival Bobby Lashley. After the match, Lesnar was angry about it and caused some chaos around ringside. Lesnar threw the steel steps, he threw the hood of the commentary table towards the ring and grabbed referee Eddie Orengo by the throat.
There was a report credited to Fightful Select stating that Lesnar’s ringside aggression during the Rumble match went a bit too far, which meant that Brock Lesnar had some “heat” with the company.
It should be noted that in the report, a source in the story said this: “Heat is a relative term for Brock Lesnar. He’s not going to get in trouble. He’s certainly not going to be fired like Cryme Tyme was. It’s a new regime, new rules, and I’m not sure anyone involved was mad or not, but some people backstage were.”
During his Hall of Fame podcast, two-time WWE Hall of Famer Booker T questioned the story while revealing some interesting details about how Lesnar isn’t even in the WWE locker room to get “heat” with people there.
“Whoever wrote that story, man, they should be fired. What do they call heat? What do they know about heat first of all? I mean, what do they know about heat? You know, if Brock Lesnar got heat, trust me, he’s not gonna know about it [laughs]. Who’s gonna go tell him? Who’s gonna tell him? You know what I mean, because this guy’s drawing money to the show, all right, that’s why.”
“I mean, he’s a major player. He’s Brock Lesnar and you know my thing has always been I’ve never cared about heat. If the boss didn’t say I had heat, I never had heat.”
“So, I don’t think the boss is gonna tell Brock Lesnar. I don’t think the boss is gonna formulate the words, ‘you got heat with us Brock Lesnar.’ I don’t think that’s gonna happen. So, when I first saw this story I just shook my head and went, ‘wow! Somebody really had to go there. Brock Lesnar’s got heat.’ In what locker room?”
“I’ve never seen Brock dress in the locker room in these last 10-15 years. He’s a big star. He’s got his own bus. So, when I hear stuff like that, in what locker room are they talking about? I think he did his job.”
Brock Lesnar is a two-time WWE Royal Rumble winner and is currently feuding with Bobby Lashley, which should lead to more matches between them with Elimination Chamber and WrestleMania 39 coming up as the next two WWE Premium Live Events.
