Bray Wyatt Pays Tribute To Brodie Lee On SmackDown To Commemorate His Birthday
Bray Wyatt paid tribute to his former Wyatt Family brother Brodie Lee on SmackDown on what would have been Lee’s 43rd birthday.
Bray Wyatt, Erick Rowan, and Brodie Lee – then known in WWE as Luke Harper – formed the original incarnation of the Wyatt Family which caused a sensation on NXT before graduating to WWE’s main roster. The mysterious group ran roughshod over the WWE roster and over time added the monstrous Braun Strowman to their ranks.
Eventually, the group went their separate ways and in December 2019 Luke Harper left WWE before re-emerging as ‘The Exalted One’ Brodie Lee in AEW in March 2020. Lee’s time in AEW saw him turn The Dark Order into a dominant force before becoming TNT Champion when he defeated Cody Rhodes easily for the gold.
Sadly, Brodie Lee was hospitalised in late 2020 with a lung condition that eventually caused him to pass away on December 26th, 2020 and the age of just 41.
On SmackDown in Chicago, Bray Wyatt came to the ring to confront LA Knight who had accused the former WWE Champion of kidnapping him the prior week and of being the same person as the mysterious Uncle Howdy. As Wyatt emerged from the entrance he let the world know he was thinking of Lee as he yelled out Lee’s catchphrase of “yeah, yeah, yeah.”
During Wyatt’s segment on the show, he was attacked by Knight before Uncle Howdy appeared at the top of the entranceway, marking his in-person debut on the show.
