Booker T Disgusted By AEW Forbidden Door Spot
Booker T has claimed he’s never watched an AEW show as he expresses his disgust about a Forbidden Door spot that he never saw.
Forbidden Door took place on August 24th, the same day that WWE counter-programmed Tony Khan’s company with NXT Heatwave. Booker T was on the call at Heatwave, meaning it would have been a struggle for him to see Forbidden Door live, but he wouldn’t have even if he could have.
At Forbidden Door, Will Ospreay, Kenny Omega, Kota Ibushi, Darby Allin, and Hiroshi Tanahashi combined forces to defeat the Death Riders and the Young Bucks in a wild lights out steel cage match. One of the more sickening moments in that match saw Jon Moxley stick a fork into the ear of Darby Allin. That was contrasted with former EVPs, The Young Bucks, trying to get hardcore as well.
But just as everything else has gone wrong for them since losing their EVP titles, The Young Bucks could only reveal a bag of gummy bears as their big weapon. Nick Jackson ended up slammed in the ring on top of the candy while Matt Jackson had them stuffed in his mouth before taking a kick to the face.
And Booker T was not impressed. Even though he didn’t see it.
Booker T Hates Gummy Bears, Loves Hamilton
Speaking on his Hall of Fame podcast, Booker T was told about the spot, which led to him asking:
Did they sell the gummy bears?
Booker T was told that they did, despite that not being strictly true and used that as his excuse as to why he doesn’t watch AEW:
I’ve said it before. AEW is trying to change the way people look at professional wrestling. No, I didn’t watch it. That right there is perhaps one of the reasons I would not watch an AEW show. I can honestly sit here and tell you that I’ve never watched an AEW show. I’ve watched bits and pieces. A lot of that has been on the internet. I’ve never sat and watched a show because of stuff like that.
Booker T continued, noting that he saw the musical Hamilton, which almost brought out his emotional side, something that he wouldn’t get from AEW, because he doesn’t watch the promotion:
I will never feel that way walking away from an AEW show. Never. Never in a million years.
Booker T – who is most famous for his spinaroonie – was on the call on the August 26th edition of NXT, which saw a blindfold match play out between Lexis King and Myles Borne.
