Booker T’s CM Punk Claims Cause Frustration Backstage

Booker T and CM Punk split

Booker T’s comments about CM Punk haven’t been well received.

On the most recent episode of his Hall of Fame podcast, Booker T claimed he “almost got into it” with CM Punk at the most recent NXT taping. Despite his injury, Punk was pictured at the taping watching the action and reportedly kept to himself.

Given Punk’s history of backstage incidents, the comments immediately sparked speculation that all might not be well behind the scenes. Booker’s cryptic telling of the alleged incident only added more fuel to the fire.

“I did. I saw Punk. We’ll talk about that off the air [laughs]. I almost had a little run in with CM Punk. The internet might want to pick that up. Me and CM Punk almost got into it at NXT. We’ll talk about it later. I don’t want to put it out there because they’re going to pick it up and run with it. I’ll talk to you off the air,”

However, according to a new report from Fightful Select, Booker’s comments have largely been met with skepticism, with no sources being aware of any kind of incident before the podcast. There was also surprise at the fact Booker would make those kinds of claims without context as Punk hasn’t had any issues since returning to WWE.

Security at the taping wasn’t informed of any kind of confrontation taking place.

The report adds there was a “sense of frustration” at Booker’s comments given Punk’s history and how they would be interpreted.

Update On CM Punk’s Backstage Involvement

Contrary to Booker T’s claims the report from Fightful notes that they’ve been told CM Punk has been very helpful backstage and open to lending to lending a hand since he returned to the company.

On March 12th specifically, Punk was said to have been in good spirits and mainly kept to himself aside from speaking to Shawn Michaels, Matt Bloom, and some of the NXT roster.

Despite being injured, CM Punk will be returning to Raw on March 25th when the red brand stops off in Chicago.

The show will come live from the Allstate Arena, and extra seats are being made available as it was already sold out.
