Bobby Lashley Talks Differences Between Vince McMahon & Triple H Running WWE

Bobby Lashley has given his opinion on how his WWE career went with Vince McMahon calling the shots compared to Triple H being in charge.

Over the last 20 years, Bobby Lashley has had two significant runs as a WWE superstar. In the mid-2000s, Lashley had a lot of success as a midcard talent who won championships like the US Title and the ECW World Title while also competing in the infamous Hair vs. Hair Match between former WWE Chairman Vince McMahon and former US President Donald Trump.

After spending about a decade away from WWE to compete in MMA as well as other wrestling promotions, Lashley returned in 2018. Within a few years, he became a main event talent who went on to win the WWE Championship twice.

Those two WWE Title reigns happened while Vince McMahon was still running WWE. In July 2022, Vince McMahon “retired” due to several legal issues which led to Paul “Triple H” Levesque taking over as the Chief Content Officer. Vince came back in January 2023 while Triple H was still in charge, but Vince still had influence. That changed in January 2024 when WWE owners Endeavor forced Vince out due to the disgusting sex trafficking lawsuit that former WWE employee Janel Grant filed against McMahon.

With Triple H calling the shots creatively, Bobby Lashley was in a group with The Street Profits and B-Fab, but they were never pushed that much.

During an appearance on The Laboratory podcast, Lashley spoke about his connection with Vince that he doesn’t have with Triple H.

“If I say the wrong thing right now….I had a connection with Vince. Vince understood me. Vince was big on the show. He looked at people that were stars. He saw that in me. There were a lot of little nuggets that Vince would give me throughout my career and tell me different things.”

“Vince looked at me like, ‘I can tell Bobby works his ass off. I can send him anywhere around the country to represent the brand.’ He looked at me like a star. I like Vince. I haven’t really had too much of a connection with Hunter. Hunter has his guys. I’ve tried to, but we haven’t really worked enough together to get to know each other.”

Bobby Lashley Likely Leaving WWE

It has been reported recently that Bobby Lashley’s WWE contract is set to expire within a few days. When it does, it is expected that Lashley will explore free agency and potentially make an appearance with All Elite Wrestling soon after.

Lashley’s good friend MVP will also be free from his WWE deal soon, so the former members of The Hurt Business may reunite in another promotion like AEW or somewhere else and it could happen very soon.
