Bobby Lashley: “I Think Boxing Is The Way To Go Right Now”

Bobby Lashley is looking outside of WWE for his next challenge.

The All-Mighty has enjoyed an impressive athletic career, encompassing multiple disciplines, and shows no sign of slowing down. However, that doesn’t mean Lashley hasn’t realised the clock is ticking.

Although the 47-year-old hasn’t lost a step in a wrestling ring, he accepts that the window to continue his legitimate fighting career is closing.

During a new interview with Alex McCarthy for the Daily Mail, Lashley admitted he’d love to box, but don’t expect him to square off against Tyson Fury any time soon.

“So I’ve been talking about it for a while now. At some point in time in your career, you got to stop fighting. But I still have so much fight left in me. But that time is ticking too, where I’m gonna say, ‘All right, get that out of your mind.’ I’ve been offered a bare knuckles fight against a football player. I talked about a couple boxing matches that I’d be interested in doing.

MMA is still in the horizon also. But for me to have another fight, I hope, I’m crossing my fingers, I’d like to do some…I personally think boxing is the way to go right now. There’s a lot of buzz with boxing. Am I fighting Tyson Fury? I don’t think so. That’s not where I wanna go. But I do wanna get in that ring, and I wanna have one of those bigger matchups against someone.

I mean, I don’t have the time to train for a Tyson Fury. But I train all the time anyway, so I can probably fight somebody that has and boxing experience that still want to do it, such as myself,”

Has Bobby Lashley Boxed Before?

Although Lashley has never competed in boxing competitively, he does have extensive experience in MMA.

The former WWE Champion has a record of 17 fights with 15 wins with 2 defeats across stints with Bellator and Strikeforce among others. His most recent fight took place in October 2016 when he defeated Josh Appelt via submission at Bellator 162.

Back in July, the star revealed he’d previously asked Vince McMahon about competing in UFC.
