Big Name Veteran Could Leave AEW

Tony Khan AEW

Another AEW star could be on the verge of leaving the company.

Jeff Hardy hasn’t wrestled since being defeated by Sammy Guevara on the taping for the February 16th episode of Rampage. During the match, Hardy sustained a broken nose, and there were fears he also suffered a concussion.

It was later found that proper concussion protocols weren’t followed, and Guevara was suspended. Despite his suspension being over, the Spanish God has yet to return to television.

In early May, Matt Hardy confirmed his brother was medically cleared to continue his career, but he remains absent.

When Does Jeff Hardy’s AEW Contract Expire?

Although Jeff Hardy’s AEW run has been underwhelming he remains a hugely recognisable name in wrestling and retains a large amount of goodwill with many fans. This means that despite his inactivity, there’s a keen sense of intrigue around what comes next.

For years both Matt and Jeff have been open about their desire to end their careers together as a team, and it seems they might get their wish.

Speaking on The Extreme Life of Matt Hardy, the veteran reiterated that Jeff is medically cleared to wrestle, adding that his AEW deal expires in June. With Matt already an ex-AEW star, this seemingly opens the door for the pair to reunite once more.

“He’s been cleared, he’s just sitting at home waiting on the call. Unlike me, he’s not someone who really gets out and makes things happen he just kind of waits on someone to call him. He sitting at home, just waiting on that phone call, jumping on the trampoline up and down with the dumb bells. But yeah, he’s got til like mid-June or so I think and then his deal is up. So I guess we’ll see if he ends up re-signing or not re-signing. Who knows?”

Matt Hardy is scheduled to challenge for the TNA World Championship at Against All Odds on June 14th.
