Big Name AEW Originals WWE Bound
Two of AEW’s original roster stars are now expected to jump ship from Tony Khan’s company and make the move to WWE.
In recent months, WWE has brought over several stars who had previously been All Elite. These have included Andrade El IDolo, Shawn Spears, and most recently Ethan Page.
Back in June, it was reported that Pental El Zero Miedo would be open to making the jump to WWE when his contract expires later this year. At the time, Penta dismissed rumours of leaving AEW as a “rumour,” but admitted that it would be a “good episode” of his career.
Fightful Select recently reported that the star’s Lucha Bros teammate and real-life brother Rey Fenix’s deal will also be up this year, although the exact date is unknown. While AEW wants to retain the services of the former tag team champions, it is expected that the popular stars will also have interest from WWE.
And it seems, it could be more than just interest.
Lucha Bros Expected To Leave AEW
Bryan Alvarez of the Wrestling Observer has reported that there is now an internal belief in AEW that Rey Fenix and Penta El Zero Miedo will be making the jump to WWE when their contracts with Tony Khan’s company expire.
Wrestle Purists had noted that the Lucha Bros’ move to WWE was a “formality” and they have been pulled from a previously planned AEW World Trios Title match at All In that would have likely seen them team up with their Death Triangle partner Pac.
The Luchas Bros were part of AEW’s first-ever show when they challenged The Young Bucks for the AAA Tag Team Championship at Double Or Nothing in 2019.
