Big E Opens Up About WWE Future Amid 3-Year In-Ring Absence
Big E has not wrestled in three years.
Although he has not officially called the curtains on his in-ring career, it is unclear if he will ever wrestle again, with a few doctors even advising him against it.
Big E was a popular member of the New Day faction, alongside Kofi Kingston and Xavier Woods.
In March 2022, he sustained a neck injury as a result of a botched move by Ridge Holland. The powerlifter had opened up about fracturing his C1 and C6 vertebrae.
Ever since, he has provided many updates, but none about his return to the squared circle. In December 2024, he said he was at peace, even if it meant he would not wrestle again.
Big E’s last in-ring appearance was in the same month during the New Day’s 10-year anniversary celebration.
While he proposed returning as Kingston and Woods’ manager, he was betrayed and turned down by the members, thus completing their heel transition.
Big E Content With New Role In WWE
The former WWE Champion recently spoke to The Sporting Tribune, wherein he revealed his new role within the company.
Big E has accepted his new role as a broadcaster, claiming he never had any intentions of becoming one, but is enjoying it.
When asked about the transition, he said the following:
It’s interesting because I never really had designs on being a broadcaster. I was out with a neck injury for a while and they (WWE) called me to be part of the press conference in Vegas with the Rock a year or so ago. It was a lot of fun, I said, you know what, I’ll keep doing this as long as it’s fun. So, I’ve enjoyed it.
It’s really such an interesting time in the industry with TKO taking over and all these pieces that are being shuffled about now. But I’m really enjoying it and I get to work with some really great broadcast partners and as long as it continues to be fun, I still wanna be here.
Last month, the former New Day member also announced his engagement to Kris Yim, who is the sister of WWE wrestler Michin.
