Big E Gives Latest Update On Recovery – “I Feel Incredible”
Big E has given a positive update on his recovery from a serious neck injury.
The New Day star has been out of action since suffering a broken neck when a move went awry during a match on SmackDown.
Earlier in August, he revealed that doctors had advised him not to return to the ring. For his part, Big E is taking things slowly and thinking through his next steps, with quality of life being foremost in his mind.
When it comes to his current condition, though, the former WWE Champion is nothing but positive, telling Steve Fall of Ten Count Media that he feels “incredible,” something he’s grateful for.
“I feel incredible, thank you for asking. I’m really grateful for that, it’s very sobering too when you talk to spine specialists and other medical professionals and they let you know, ‘Oh, hey you’re very fortunate because if this was me, we’re talking about stroke or paralysis or death.’
“Thankfully, having a pretty muscular neck really saved me. So, you realise how dangerous what we do is. Please don’t try this at home, we say that for a reason!”
The star went on to say that he has been left with no nerve or muscular issues following the injury, and he’s felt “so so good” over the past year.
“More than anything, it kind of made me just grateful for life, grateful for the fact that I’m still here. I have no nerve pain, no muscular issues, I feel incredible, honestly. This past year I have just felt so so good and I’m so grateful for that.”
How did Big E get injured?
The star was injured on the March 11th, 2022 edition of SmackDown during a tag team match that saw him and Kofi Kingston take on Sheamus and Ridge Holland.
During the bout, the action spilled out onto the floor, where Holland gave Big E an overhead belly-to-belly suplex. Unfortunately, things went wrong as the star did not land as intended, instead falling head-first onto the floor.
