Why Becky Lynch Is Set To Miss WWE Crown Jewel

Becky Lynch will not be on the flight to Perth, Australia, for WWE Crown Jewel.

For the first time since its inaugural edition in 2018, the premium live event is being held outside Saudi Arabia.

The 2025 event currently features five matches, with the possibility of new ones added during the upcoming SmackDown taping on October 10.

  • Roman Reigns vs. Bronson Reed in an Australian Street Fight
  • Rhea Ripley & Iyo Sky vs. The Kabuki Warriors in a tag team match
  • John Cena vs. AJ Styles in a singles match
  • Stephanie Vaquer (WWE Women’s World Champion) vs. Tiffany Stratton (WWE Women’s Champion) for the WWE Women’s Crown Jewel Championship
  • Cody Rhodes (Undisputed WWE Champion) vs. Seth Rollins (WWE World Heavyweight Champion) for the WWE Men’s Crown Jewel Championship

As of this day, Becky Lynch has competed in only one Crown Jewel PLE, which was in 2021, where she successfully defended her SmackDown Women’s Championship against Bianca Belair and Sasha Banks.

Becky Lynch Getting Some Well-Deserved Time Off

As the Women’s Intercontinental Champion, Becky Lynch has been heavily featured on RAW.

She also recently joined her peers on the UK Tour, where she opened SmackDown on August 22 in Dublin, Ireland.

Speaking on Fightful’s The Hump podcast, Sean Ross Sapp addressed Becky Lynch’s absence from the card for Crown Jewel, stating that she’s getting a well-deserved break.

It’s just her taking that show off — those shows off — because she’s not booked for the PLE. They can make it work. There’s no reason to fly people over there just to have them there.

That’s like a 22-hour flight, man. That’s a tough trip. I really want to go to Australia, but I don’t want to take that flight. You feel like you live there by the time you land. And then you have to do it all over again coming back. That’s like 40 to 45 hours total on a plane when you count airport time. She’ll be back in two weeks, and that’ll be that. [H/T: Ringside News]
